YOUNG HEARTS

YOUNG HEARTS

I had serious doubts when I purchased this dress because I thought it was too girly (If you know me, I rarely wear anything TOO girly) but it seems like this has been my go-to dress this Spring/Summer (and I just couldn't resist the little hearts print). Just today, I found myself taking it out again in my closet pairing it with a straw fedora from Nuage 9 and some bejewelled flats for this perfect summer weather (+23 the hottest day ever by far this season).  And there's no doubt I might just take it out again for a day out sunbathing in the park while eating gelato and trying my best to win JUST AT LEAST one game of Connect 4 with O.

OF CORAL AND SCALLOP SHORTS

OF CORAL AND SCALLOP SHORTS

These scallop shorts are the comfiest little thing on Earth. I fell in love the moment I saw this one H&M shopping day and I love how neutral the colour is that I can just mix and match it whether I want to spice it up with some colour or not. Speaking of colours, we all know that coral is one of the biggest brightest colours this season (thus my Lady Danger coral orange lippie too from MAC) and Anne B. Accessories is right on it with this coral beaded layered necklace.

Armani blazer. H&M top and shorts. Value Village combat boots. Anne B. Accessories necklace. Marc by Marc Jacobs bangle. Forever 21 ring and bangles. Adorie Jewels ring. Aldo sunnies.

These photos are the first installment of my little collaboration with Fashion Institute of the Philippines alum, Don Loyaga. If you are from the Philippines, you probably have seen his work several times in big name newspapers back home. Yup, he finally decided to invade Canada and you will see more of him, that's for sure!

COLORBLOCK SWEATER

This colorblock sweater from Montreal homegrown brand, Covet is my go-to sweater during this winter to spring transition. I overused this too during winter with a tank top underneath and a furry vest but now I can wear it on its own with my spring/summer trousers. The weather is generally good lately (except for a few snow falls last weekend) -- it was the perfect time to check out Calgary's newly opened Peace Bridge and budding photographer, Katy Whitt did not disappoint with these photos!

Covet colorblock sweater. Sirens trousers. Chinese Laundry wedge booties. Michael Kors tote bag. Pretty Harbor necklace. Aldo sunnies. rings from Garage and H&M. 2Two belt. Floppy hat from Walmart.

Things have been a whole LOT rough on my end lately but trust that things would be better soon just in time for Spring~

Toronto Fashion Week

On the second day of fashion week, the crowds are buzzing about the gorgeous weather and Lucien Matis’ couture collection at the Royal York. The Arab Spring has swept its way into the fashion world, democratizing access to great designers as geniuses like Matis go from couture to pret-a-porter over night. Ready to wear shifts are drenched in inky ocelot and green feathered Quetzal patterns, and the famous Matis ribbon dress is revisioned in a prismatic print. His crocodile Kelly bag gets a biker twist with foot long leather fringe and fills me with pure lust. For a full tour of the Matis collections – check out http://www.flickr.com/photos/magnetcreative/.
Lundstrom pays homage to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Bouffant bobs are kept in place with crystal hairbands, and prim leather gloves with 3/4 length sleeves are almost festishized as Jackie plays Madonna to Marilyn’s whore. Chloe Comme Parrish evolve in an accomplished collection subtly referencing the dungeons of the Spanish Inquisition, with ball bearing studs and metal gauntlets.
At times the audience was just as interesting as the clothes on the runway! Looking forward to Dixon on Thursday! Happy Fashion Week!
